Chapter Chapter 1Artificial Intelligence on SCM in the Hospitality Sector
Pages: 18
Organizations are projected to move toward more technological ways of working, managing, organizing, and supporting change in different organizational processes due to technological breakthroughs made possible by the digital economy. Human resource management (HRM) plays a crucial role in ensuring that businesses are able to attract and retain top personnel, but the widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) and robots in the global economy is predicted to have far-reaching effects on the character, structure, and terms of employment. The goal of this chapter is to provide a literature assessment on the impact of AI on supply chain management in the hotel industry. Thanks to AI-enhanced hotel and tourist operations and management systems, the hospitality industry has been rebranded as an intelligent hotel and tourism business. Since this technological advancement enables customers to access reliable and accurate information that allows them to personalize their requests, make reservations, and purchase hotel and tourism products and services directly through technological platforms, it has also reshaped the models of tourism and hoteling by disrupting the traditional system.
Chapter Chapter 2Electronic Procurement and Procurement Performance in the Oil and Gas Industry: A Case Study of Total Oil Service Stations in Tamale
Pages: 48
The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional study is to understand, test, and measure the impact of e-procurement practices on procurement performance among total oil service stations in Tamale. The methodology offers an explanation of the research design (correlation), strategy (quantitative), approach (deductive), respondents, data collection, instrumentation (questionnaire), and analysis of data (SPSS-AMOS) used in the present study. Also, the findings revealed that all the e-procurement dimensions—e-payment, e-sourcing, e-ordering, and e-requisition—are effective tools to improve procurement in the oil and gas sectors. The findings from the multivariate data analysis provide a better understanding of e-procurement system dynamics and are helpful to key decision-makers. There are limited studies available in the existing e-procurement literature using the resource-based view theory to understand procurement performance. This study will offer a comprehensive understanding to readers in this gap and relatively new concept.
Chapter Chapter 3Blockchain (BC) on Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Pages: 20
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the benefits of blockchain (BC) on supply chain management. A BC is a distributed ledger that records transactions between users in a way that is both permanent and decentralized. BC, at its core, eliminates the need for third-party middlemen in the validation and recording of transactions. Businesses may ensure continued rapid expansion by developing supply networks that can easily adjust to the ever-shifting demands of the market. Our findings underline the importance of digital leadership in explaining the contribution of various BC technology characteristics to trust-building and supply chain flexibility and lend support to the hypothesis that the transparency and security of information provided by BC technology has an impact on both. BC technology is being implemented for the sake of absolute transparency.
Chapter Chapter 4Robots on Supply Chain Management
Pages: 18
To maintain a competitive edge and boost output and efficiency in the supply chain, businesses are using a variety of cutting-edge technologies. Robots are invaluable for order fulfillment because they can do routine activities that need little to no intelligence. For this reason, this chapter’s focus is on the advantages of robots in SCM and how they can be implemented. By assisting businesses in lowering costs, ensuring stability, increasing productivity, reducing mistakes, reducing inventory checks, and optimizing picking, sorting, and storage times, robots are reshaping the future of supply chains. Robotic process automation (RPA) is used in supply chain administration to automate menial jobs, thereby reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency. In response to rising demand, robotics in the supply chain can help expand production and speed up the scaling process. Worker safety is also improved, thanks to robotics, as dangerous tasks like collecting products from high storage places can be outsourced. As a result of RPA reducing human error and speeding up delivery times, customers will be more satisfied. From what has been discussed and what has been published, it is clear that the use of robots can have significant implications for the future of SCM.
Chapter Chapter 5Assessing the Effect of Information Technology on Supply Chain Management in SMEs
Pages: 34
The objective of this research was to ascertain the advantages of information technology (IT) in enhancing the performance of supply chain operations. This chapter further aimed to examine different IT applications used in supply chain operations. The research conducted was a quantitative study, consisting of a sample size of 38 participants from small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises located in the Tamale-Northern area of Ghana. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS-AMOS software in the current study. The study’s findings indicate that the hurdles to supply chain management (SCM) in road building include many key factors. These include a lack of commitment from senior management, poor technical skills, insufficient utilization of IT, supplier resistance to change, and a lack of encouragement from the organization. Barcoding, Material Resources Planning, and Distribution Requirement Planning have a substantial influence on the effectiveness of SCM. Nevertheless, the impact of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) on supply chain performance in manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) located in Tamale, NR-Ghana was found to be beneficial, but statistically negligible. Therefore, the information and communication technology 106(ICT) tools that have the greatest influence on SMEs are barcoding, material resources planning, and distribution need planning. These technologies have a substantial effect on the performance of SCM.
Chapter Chapter 6Internet of Things (IoT) on Supply Chain Management in the Hotel Sector
Pages: 15
Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most promising new developments for hoteliers. It is crucial that hotel owners, managers, and other business executives make use of it, but many still have questions about what it is and how it might assist them. In this piece, we will learn more about the IoT and how it can help the hospitality industry. Hotels, resorts, cruise liners, sportsbooks, eateries, and other leisure sector firms may find that the IoT drastically alters the ways in which they collect data, interact with customers, and automate tasks. IoT is used to describe the interconnection of mechanical items that have sensors, actuators, and other devices built into them to gather and relay data in real time. It is concluded that a new era of hospitality has come to stay; hence, the combination of IoT with other technologies such as consumer mobility and data analytics has better avenue for growth, speed, and ease.
Chapter Chapter 7Machine Learning on Supply Chain Management
Pages: 21
Agile and effective logistics processes are crucial in today’s age of information technology and ever-increasingly complicated technological and industrial procedures. Success in the supply chain (SC) is predicated on a number of factors, including reliability, transparency, and adaptability in the face of uncertainty, as well as favorable economic conditions. Technology capable of handling the growing complexity of supply networks is essential for operations that are constantly evolving. The purpose of this chapter was to give readers a bird’s eye view of how machine learning (ML) methods are being used in the logistics industry. In this context, after a quick overview of popular ML techniques, the usage of each in overseeing distinct parts of the SC was discussed. This chapter describes supervised learning algorithms that can predict demand, classify images, detect fraud, or even make medical diagnoses based on incoming data. Customers can be categorized and products can be recommended using unsupervised ML techniques. This study aims to provide an overview of ML and the techniques it employs to improve SC efficiency. Several positive effects of ML on supply chain management (SCM) have been documented in the literature. ML helps derive actionable insights, allowing for rapid problem solving and continuous improvement, resulting in lower costs. This is accomplished by optimizing product flow in the SC without requiring supply chain firms to hold much inventory.

Chapter Chapter 9The Effects of Electronic Procurement Adoption on Supply Chain Management: The Mediating Role of Regulatory Environment
Pages: 20
This study examined the impact of e-procurement (EP) implementation on supply chain management (SCM), with a special emphasis on 29 public and private hospitals within the five Northern regions of Ghana, in consideration of the regulatory environment. The research is a cross-sectional study and employed a quantitative approach due to its design. Our findings show that EP and SCM are directly linked, with the regulatory environment serving as a moderating factor. However, EP implementation is a difficult journey for the reason that it involves overcoming numerous barriers, and the costs of adoption limit overall organizational success. From the study results, the policy implications are discussed: Ghana’s public hospitals should revamp EP. 224The management should adopt EP to promote openness, fairness, and responsibility for effective and efficient operations. Government agencies most especially should help public hospitals embrace EP to reap its advantages.
