Chapter 5Digitalization in Business Growth and Scaling
Pages: 16
For scalability and sustainable growth, the active business environment remains a significant constituent of digitalization. Therefore, this chapter investigates the sometimes-sophisticated ways in which companies exploit an opportunity for change as market areas are expanded, processes streamlined, and new possibilities captured through digital transformation. It begins with the basic ideas of digitalization and how the new technologies affect the established business models. It reveals how better adoption of digital technologies can heavily increase business productivity, efficiency, and agility by supporting the handling of the intricacies of the market. It further brings to light how digitalization has changed the approaches for meeting strategies and customer experiences. It has also brought companies closer to clients through their multichannel marketing and contact-specific interactions to develop their relationships with their clients and provoke loyalty towards the brands. The chapter also underlines the importance of data-driven strategic planning to aid in decision making. In this respect, companies can use big data analytics and predictive insights that give the right input on the next market to be expanded upon or where trends in specific industries are emerging thereby availing untapped markets. It also describes how smart technology investments in digital transformation become enablers for reducing costs and generating competitive advantages over time. They use automation and cloud computing, meanwhile, are allowed to allocate resources to create a better way to reach the required operational excellence.
Chapter 6Navigating Challenges for Tech-Based Enterprises Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach
Pages: 23
The present work investigates the sixteen essential activities of the start-ups directly contributing to accelerating the growth if managed through IT-enabled channels. The activities reported were further examined using the multi-criteria-decision-making (MCDM) approaches and ranked based on their contribution to accelerating the development of start-ups. This coupled with the adoption of IT-enabled channels, has provided the impetus to overcome the challenges associated with traditional businesses. An elaborate review of the existing literature revealed the need to examine the potential of technology-based (IT-enabled) start-ups. The study reports activity ‘defining the purpose’ as the most crucial parameter. Though there are several motivations among the entrepreneurs to go on an entrepreneurial journey, the skill-set of utilizing the IT-enabled channels in defining and aligning the start-up’s objectives with the resource availability is the most crucial. The well-defined purpose helps in strategizing entrepreneurial growth from the initial stage. The study identifies ‘the value proposition’ as the second most crucial activity in accelerating start-up growth and should be handled with intensive care. The present research is purely based on inputs of experts using the Fuzzy Delphi approach for e-businesses, and there may be a chance that the inputs may differ for manufacturing sector-related start-ups. The IT enables channels to help develop the vibrant culture to bring the start-ups through managing and optimizing the associated activities. The research outcomes provide an in-depth understanding to researchers and practitioners in recognizing the importance of start-up activities.
Chapter 7Ethical and Sustainability Challenges for Technopreneurship
Pages: 19
The fast pace of technological change has had a huge impact on society and the economy, with few aspects of business and life escaping the advance of tech-based solutions driving greater efficiency and economic growth. But the rapid pace of innovation has created numerous sustainability challenges that technology companies need to get to grips with – and quickly. Whether it’s the carbon costs of producing hardware and powering data centers, or the social implications of artificial intelligence (AI) and respecting user privacy, these companies are facing significant Environmental Social Governance (ESG)-related challenges in synchronizing their business models with the environment, their people and the communities they serve. In the fast-moving tech world, being ecologically sustainable is vital. Companies have got to show they care about the planet to attract “green-minded” customers and investors. There is a need for a long-term environmental plan This is where Green IT plays a vital role in the entire sustainability game. Environmental ethics (EE): That is related to with producing using e-waste. Switching to all-renewal-energy data centers, new high-efficiency cooling tech, and convincing employees to use less power are all major steps. Tech companies must also transition to a circular economy, shifting from the age of “take, make, trash” making durable, reusable goods from the beginning.
Chapter 8Government Support and Policies
Pages: 17
Government interventions play a crucial role in nurturing technopreneurship and advancing sustainability. The proposed chapter explains the significance of governmental support in bridging the financial, infrastructural, and knowledge gaps that technopreneurs face. It categorizes the types of support into financial aid, regulatory frameworks, infrastructure development, and educational programs, providing a structured overview of each. A detailed analysis of policy frameworks that foster innovation and sustainability is presented, supported with global examples such as the United States’ Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, Israel’s Innovation Authority, India’s Digital India Initiative and Germany’s High-Tech Strategy 2025. These examples illustrate how strategic policies can catalyse technological advancements and economic growth. The chapter further includes case studies from diverse regions, showcasing successful policy implementations and their tangible impacts. These case studies offer practical insights and best practices, demonstrating how tailored policies can create robust technopreneurial ecosystems. Finally, the chapter addresses the challenges in policy implementation and offers recommendations for future directions, emphasizing the need for adaptive, inclusive, and collaborative policy approaches. This comprehensive exploration aims to provide policymakers, academicians, and technopreneurs with valuable knowledge on leveraging government support for sustainable technopreneurial success.
Chapter 9Technopreneurship in India
Pages: 25
This research examines the critical success factors and challenges in technopreneurship in India through an extensive case study analysis. Utilizing content coding techniques, qualitative data from emerging technopreneurs is systematically analysed to uncover key themes and patterns. The study focuses on four diverse technopreneurs from Bangalore, selected via purposeful sampling. Bangalore, known as the Silicon Valley of India, hosts a wide array of technopreneurial start-ups, creating a highly competitive environment that demands significant effort for sustainability. Hence Bangalore in the state of Karnataka has been set for the scope of the study. A structured interview with twenty questions has been used to collect the data from the technopreneurs. The interview schedule covered questions related to critical success factors, challenges faced, role of government in supporting technopreneurship, Market opportunities, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Role of education in technopreneurship, etc. Apart from questions related to technopreneurship few demographic questions such as: Name, age, area of residence, educational background, family support etc. were also covered. The study reveals that educational institutions play a pivotal role in shaping up the technopreneurs which is one of the common threads amongst all the four technopreneurs. In addition, all the four technopreneurs mentioned that to be a successful technopreneurs one has to be updated with the market trends and also take efforts to up skill oneself with the latest technologies and technical metamorphosis. In addition, technopreneurs have to be competitive where they have to hone their technical skills every day due to the global competition. Especially for a metropolitan city like Bangalore, technopreneurship is a challenge because there are already many existing tech-based giants. Hence, being focussed, confident, updated and courageous is the core mantra for successful technopreneurs.
